Code Club

The original idea for Code Club came about during an internal Orion Health hackathon. Since then, it has gained momentum and become a national voluntary lead organization with over 120 individual clubs established throughout New Zealand. Each club meets weekly and teaches children in the local community how to code. We run a weekly Code Club from our Auckland office and our Christchurch staff help run Code Clubs at a number of schools in their community.

To encourage and support greater diversity within the tech industry, Orion Health sponsors She#. This is an Auckland based group that aims at encourage, inspire and support women and girls interest in computer science, computer engineering, IT, and tech-related fields.

Future In Tech

School and university visits

To inspire a younger generation into the tech industry, we host site visits for school and university students at our offices. Through these visits we show students around our workspace and talk to them about what we do and what it’s really like to work for an international software company.

A number of our New Zealand staff have also signed up to become Futureintech Ambassadors, where they go to schools and talk to students about what they do, the opportunities within the industry and the pathways they can take to get there.

Over the last three years our we have helped support and run the annual Programming Challenge for Girls, hosted at the Manukau Institute of Technology for local female high school students.

Internationally we host and sponsor a number of industry related Meetups in our regional offices, to help inspire and learn from thought leaders in the health IT and technology industry.
